Singer Wheesung collapses after receiving sleep anesthesia, police dispatched
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Singer Wheesung (38, real name Choi Whee-sung), who is suspected of habitual propofol use, was found collapsed after administering sedative anesthetics, prompting police to respond.
According to police and fire authorities on the 1st, police and fire departments responded to a report around 8:30 p.m. the previous day that a man had collapsed in a restroom of a building in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The police confirmed that the man was Wheesung and investigated whether he had used narcotics, but a urine test came back negative. Several syringes, bottles containing liquid, and plastic bags were found at the scene where Wheesung collapsed.
The police believe the drugs administered by Wheesung were sedative anesthetics not classified as narcotics, and after sending him home, they plan to investigate the circumstances under which the anesthetics were obtained.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency has secured statements that Wheesung administered a large amount of propofol, a psychotropic sleep-inducing drug, and is conducting an investigation. It is known that the police detected this situation while investigating a separate drug case.
