Preliminary Candidate Shin Jeong-hoon Promises Regular Communication Through Meeting with Gwangjeon Labor Union
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the National Assembly election in Naju·Hwasun, Jeollanam-do, held a meeting on the 31st with representatives of 10 labor unions from public institutions relocated to the Gwangju·Jeonnam Joint Innovation City Labor Union Council and promised to regularize communication.
The meeting was attended by preliminary candidate Shin, Kim Seon-yong, chairman of the Naju City Council, and provincial and city council members from the Naju area, where they discussed the development of the innovation city and the improvement of residential conditions for relocated institution workers between the Democratic Party and the Gwangjeon Labor Union Council.
At the meeting, the Gwangjeon Labor Union Council requested improvements such as supplementing the transportation system between Naju Station and the Innovation City, ensuring the public nature of public institutions, supporting interest on jeonse deposits, establishing joint daycare centers, introducing a joint school district system with Gwangju, and fostering prestigious high schools to improve educational conditions.
They also proposed regular dialogue sessions for coexistence by raising issues such as resident acceptance surveys and loss compensation measures related to SRF, odor problems near Bitgaram-dong, and matters related to the operation of the Innovation City Development Foundation and the Complex Innovation Center.
In response, preliminary candidate Shin said, “I agree with the basic principles regarding the public nature of public institutions, and together with Naju City, I will spare no effort in multifaceted efforts regarding education, environment, and culture to improve residential conditions in the Innovation City.” He added, “Regarding the SRF issue, I will respect the governance agreement as much as possible and pay close attention to ensure that related matters can be realized.”
He continued, “I empathize with the need for a communication system with the Gwangjeon Labor Union Council, and if elected, I will regularize communication opportunities that enable coexistence to resolve inconveniences and establish a close cooperative system.”

Meanwhile, the Gwangjeon Labor Union Council is an organization of labor unions to which labor unions of public institutions relocated to Bitgaram Innovation City belong. It is a consultative body with 13 unions participating, including the KEPCO KDN Union, Korea Rural Community Corporation Union, Korea Communications Agency Union, and Private School Pension Union.
