Korea Institute of Materials Science Completes Direct Employment for Cleaning, Security, and Facility Staff
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, completed the direct employment conversion of workers in three service job categories?cleaning, security, and facilities?as of the 1st.
KIMS has been operating a consultative body for the conversion of dispatched and contracted workers to regular employees since 2017, in accordance with the government's "Public Sector Non-Regular Workers Regularization Guidelines."
This consultative body has consistently reflected the positions of labor and management parties and other stakeholders through labor-management consultations and expert advice regarding whether to convert these workers to regular employees or establish a subsidiary company. As a result, it was agreed in 2017, when discussions began, to convert all workers in the three job categories and all 26 eligible individuals.
