Suncheon City Forms 'Local Economy Revitalization TF' Team... Efforts for Early Overcoming of COVID-19
After Level 1 Operation Until the 10th, Transition to Emergency Response Headquarters Led by the Deputy Mayor
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 31st that it has launched the ‘Local Economy Revitalization TF,’ an economic control tower, to respond to the crisis caused by COVID-19 and will actively promote measures to revive the livelihood economy.
The ‘Local Economy Revitalization TF’ began its first full meeting on the 30th and will play a comprehensive role in establishing preemptive measures and implementing economic policies to ensure the early recovery of the livelihood economy amid the prolonged COVID-19 damage and economic crisis.
The team, led by the Director of the Job Economy Bureau, will operate to prepare COVID-19 response plans according to government and Jeollanam-do policies, discover independent policies to overcome COVID-19, comprehensively manage departmental projects, and establish a rapid response system.
Emphasis is placed on injecting emergency funds into disaster blind spots such as small business owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, and vulnerable workers facing an unprecedented livelihood cliff due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, thereby revitalizing the stagnant local economy.
Suncheon City is currently implementing economic measures focused on four major areas (finance, fiscal, welfare, and public sectors), and in particular, supports crisis households with a total scale of 2.5 billion won through the ‘Suncheon-type Emergency Living Safety Support.’
The ‘Local Economy Revitalization TF’ will establish a foundation by the 10th through the first phase, which includes collecting best practices from the government, Jeollanam-do, and other local governments, sharing with related departments, promoting, and discovering policies. Then, in the second phase, it plans to upgrade to an emergency response headquarters chaired by the vice mayor by assigning dedicated staff, and will promote mid- to long-term measures, check departmental implementation plans, and conduct comprehensive management.
