Cheong Wa Dae "Bulgarian Prime Minister Directly Explains Korea's 'Hopeful Quarantine' to National Assembly"
Bulgarian Prime Minister to President Moon: "Diagnostic Kits Are Absolutely Necessary"... President Moon: "Actively Considering Assistance"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "I will personally go to the National Assembly to explain that South Korea, which experienced the COVID-19 crisis ahead of Bulgaria, is taking hopeful quarantine measures." Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said this during a phone call with President Moon Jae-in on the 31st.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated on the 31st, "President Moon Jae-in had a phone call for about 15 minutes starting at 4 p.m. at the request of Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov, exchanging opinions on measures to respond to the globally spreading COVID-19."
Prime Minister Borisov said, "We are well aware that South Korea is being recognized worldwide as a model case in quarantine systems," and added, "Recently, the demand for COVID-19 testing has increased in Bulgaria, so diagnostic kits for rapid testing are urgently needed," requesting cooperation.
President Moon said, "We will actively consider providing assistance to Bulgaria," and added, "Let us specifically discuss the quantity, schedule, and transportation methods through diplomatic channels between the two countries."
Spokesperson Kang explained, "President Moon also expressed his intention to actively share Korea’s relatively abundant experience and clinical data, accumulated by experiencing the spread of COVID-19 earlier than the European region, with the international community." Prime Minister Borisov said, "We highly appreciate Korea’s technological capabilities, science, clinical data, and treatment experience."
Meanwhile, President Moon mentioned the exchange of congratulatory letters between the two heads of state on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year (March 23), expressing hope that the human and material exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, which have somewhat slowed due to the COVID-19 crisis, will be further revitalized once the situation calms down.
