Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “With the opening of ‘Jeonil Building 245,’ a symbolic building of the Gwangju Democratization Movement, we hope citizens visiting the 5·18 Square can feel the vibrant urban atmosphere. As many citizens are exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we hope they can take a brief rest through the fountain’s flowing water.”
