Candidate Lee Hyung-seok Holds 'Online' Election Campaign Committee Launch Ceremony
Participation in COVID-19 Social Distancing Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu (Eul) in the April 15 general election, held an online election campaign committee launch ceremony on the 28th and pledged victory.
The launch ceremony was held online as the first in Gwangju and Jeonnam to practice social distancing to prevent COVID-19 in advance.
Co-chairpersons of the joint standing election campaign committee were appointed as Lee Jeong-il, Jeong Soo-min, Jo Ho-kwon, Park Kyung-rin, and Kim Dong-chan, and only about 20 people including the head of the organization headquarters, special committee chairpersons, and special advisors attended.
The preliminary candidate said, “To prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19, we had no choice but to replace it with an online campaign committee launch ceremony, and I thank everyone who participated.”
He continued, “Although there are many difficulties recently due to COVID-19, we have overcome numerous hardships together in the past,” and emphasized, “If we work together, we can definitely overcome both COVID-19 and the general election.”
He also appealed, “I will take the lead to ensure President Moon Jae-in’s stable governance in the second half of the year, the re-creation of the administration in 2022, and the economic development of Gwangju,” and “I ask for the generous support and backing of the Honam people so that the Democratic Party can achieve an overwhelming victory in Honam.”
