Tokyo Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Cases... Over 60 Infections on First Day of Stay-at-Home Advisory
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] More than 60 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Tokyo, Japan. On the first day that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government requested people to refrain from going out on weekends due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the highest number of daily confirmed cases was recorded.
According to NHK on the 28th, more than 60 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Tokyo. This is the largest number of daily confirmed cases in any area of Japan.
As of the previous day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Japan, including passengers aboard the cruise ship Diamond Princess, was 2,236.
Excluding the 712 cruise ship passengers among the infected in Japan, the regional distribution as of the previous day was as follows: Tokyo Metropolitan Government had the highest number with 299 cases, followed by Osaka Prefecture (Osaka-fu) with 176 cases, Hokkaido (Hokkaid?) with 169 cases, and Aichi Prefecture (Aichi-ken) with 160 cases.
