Gyeonggi Philharmonic Anthology Series III Performance Online Live Streaming
Italian Resident Senior Conductor Massimo Zanetti Absent... Deputy Conductor Jeong Nara Takes Baton and Program Changes
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Gyeonggi Arts Center will live stream the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Anthology Series III concert "Brahms & Elgar" online without an audience on April 10th at 8 PM.
Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Massimo Zanetti, the principal conductor of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra who is currently residing in Italy, will not participate in this performance.
Accordingly, Deputy Conductor Jung Na-ra will take the baton in place of Zanetti and appear on the audience-free live broadcast stage. The program has also been changed. Instead of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Debussy's "La Mer," the Gyeonggi Philharmonic will perform Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Elgar's Cello Concerto, and Brahms' Symphony No. 2.
The soloist has also changed. Pianist Kim Da-sol, originally scheduled to perform, is currently residing in Germany and unable to enter Korea, so cellist Lim Hee-young will perform as the soloist. Since it is a live broadcast without an audience, music critic Jang Il-beom will provide commentary during intermissions and other non-performance times. Refund procedures will be carried out for ticket purchasers.
Conductor Zanetti decided not to participate in the performance out of concern for the safety of the orchestra members and sent a handwritten message expressing that this is a time when everyone must unite and that we all look forward to the day we can meet again.
