Gyeongsan City Council Shares COVID-19 Burden... Returns 127.5 Million Won Including Training Expenses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] The Gyeongsan City Council in Gyeongbuk has decided to return the entire budget of 127.5 million KRW allocated for overseas training and policy development expenses for council members this year.
The city council announced on the 27th that it resolved to return the budget during a council members' meeting, with the intention of sharing the pain with citizens who are suffering due to the prolonged economic downturn in the region.
The returned budget will be reflected in the supplementary budget and used for COVID-19 support projects.
All council members also decided to participate in a COVID-19 fundraising campaign and donate 3 million KRW to the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea.
Kang Soo-myung, chairman of the city council, said, "In these difficult times due to COVID-19, it is the duty of the council to share the pain with citizens and strive to support the local economy," adding, "We will do our best to overcome COVID-19."
