'Face of Wall Street' Peter Tuchman Tests Positive for COVID-19
Frequent Model in New York Stock Exchange Articles
"I've Never Been This Sick in My Life"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jaehee] Peter Turkman (63), a frequent model in New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) articles widely known as the "Face of Wall Street" and "Wall Street's Einstein," has tested positive for COVID-19.
Turkman, who has worked at the NYSE for 35 years since 1985, posted on his Instagram on the 26th (local time), "I thought I should let you all know that I tested positive for COVID-19."
Turkman said, "I am fighting hard against COVID-19," adding, "I've never been this sick in my life." However, he noted that he has no breathing problems.
Raised in a Jewish immigrant family in the United States, Turkman is a floor trader responsible for proprietary trading of securities firms on the trading floor.
Turkman has become known as the "Face of Wall Street" due to his diverse and vivid expressions that can gauge the mood of the New York stock market just by his photos.
With his disheveled white hair and unique appearance resembling the genius scientist Albert Einstein, he is also called "Wall Street's Einstein."
In February 2007, when the New York stock market plunged, Turkman's shocked expression with arms wide open and mouth agape appeared on the front page of the New York Daily News, gaining him fame.
Since then, he has become a favorite model for photographers covering the NYSE trading floor whenever the market experiences significant fluctuations.
