Gwangju Nam-gu, 'Target Management System' for Food Waste-Generating Businesses 추진
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 27th that it will promote the ‘Large-scale Waste Generator Target Management System,’ which provides incentives based on reduction rates to reduce the amount of food waste generated from restaurants and collective catering facilities, and is publicly recruiting businesses to participate in this program.
Nam-gu identified 77 collective catering facilities with an average daily number of diners of 100 or more and 111 general restaurants with a business area of 200㎡ or more as large-scale waste generators.
Nam-gu will publicly recruit businesses to participate in the target management system until the 29th of next month, and plans to conduct an evaluation around the end of this year to select a total of 13 excellent businesses, including 3 collective catering facilities and 10 general restaurants, and provide incentives.
The selection of excellent businesses will reflect the food waste reduction rate compared to the previous year and cases of practices implemented within the business to reduce food waste.
The 3 collective catering facilities selected as excellent businesses will be provided with a total of 600 rainbow trays worth about 16 million KRW, and the 10 general restaurants will be provided with 2,500 biodegradable leftover food containers for takeout.
Businesses wishing to participate in the target management system can fill out an application form and submit it by visiting the Environmental Ecology Division of Nam-gu Office, or by mail or fax.
