Baemin Order, Baedal Minjok's Contactless Ordering and Payment, Surpasses 2 Million Cumulative Orders
Pre-ordering Feature Before Visiting Restaurants... Increasing with More Takeout and Contactless In-store Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Woowa Brothers announced on the 27th that the cumulative orders of 'Baemin Order,' a contactless order and payment service launched by the delivery application 'Baedal Minjok,' surpassed 2 million within five months of its release.
Baemin Order is a feature that allows customers to place orders in advance before picking up food at a restaurant. Even when dining in, customers can use Baemin Order to order and pay. When ordering in-store, scanning the QR code on the table allows customers to view detailed menus, enabling ordering and payment without going through the counter or staff.
Since its debut in November last year, Baemin Order has grown by double digits every month. The cumulative number of orders exceeded 1 million in January and surpassed 2 million in just over a month. The number of registered stores has steadily increased from 19,000 in November last year to over 50,000 this month.
As the number of participating stores and orders increased, the transaction amount through Baemin Order exceeded 10 billion KRW this month alone. Compared to about 1 billion KRW recorded during the pilot period in October last year, this is a tenfold increase in five months. Baemin Order offers high operational efficiency not only for users but also for store owners, as they can continue to use their existing delivery order channels. In particular, Baedal Minjok does not charge order fees for orders placed through Baemin Order, which has been well received by restaurant owners. The 0% order fee policy will continue until the end of this year.

Woowa Brothers plans to expand the Baemin Order service this year. They aim to increase the number of participating stores to 100,000 and target 20 million orders annually. To achieve this, Baemin Order will be made available not only in restaurants but also in large-scale cultural facilities such as baseball stadiums and shopping malls. From this year, contactless ordering through Baemin Order will be possible at locations such as NewCore Outlet Gwangmyeong Branch and Changwon NC Park, where professional baseball games are held. Kim Yong-hoon, Executive Director of Woowa Brothers in charge of Baemin Order service, said, "We will enhance the Baemin Order service to improve customer convenience in response to the social trend of expanding untact consumption and customers' demands to reduce the time and procedures required for ordering and payment."
