Gwangjin-gu Takes Initiative to Create 'Safe Clean Market' to Revitalize Traditional Markets
Placement of Hand Sanitizers Throughout Traditional Markets, Market-Wide Disinfection 1-2 Times Daily... COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines Broadcast via In-Market Public Address Systems
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has launched the "Safe Clean Market Initiative" to revitalize traditional markets, where foot traffic has decreased due to anxiety caused by COVID-19.
The "Safe Clean Market Initiative" focuses on thorough disinfection and hygiene management within traditional markets so that residents can shop with confidence. This effort is being jointly promoted by the district and the local traditional market merchants' association.
To prevent COVID-19, the district and the merchants' association have placed hand sanitizers throughout the market, including rest areas and restrooms, and disinfect the entire market once or twice daily.
Additionally, through the market's broadcasting system, COVID-19 prevention guidelines are frequently announced so that both merchants and visitors can hear them.
Furthermore, the district distributes masks and hand sanitizers to market merchants to reduce infection risks, and posts prevention guideline posters and clean market promotional banners throughout the market to encourage merchants to actively participate in COVID-19 prevention.
