Naju-si, Sells 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages' to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 26th that it recently started selling 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages' in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, a city cooperating in public meal supply for urban-rural coexistence, to support local farms struggling due to COVID-19.
The sale of these agricultural product packages, running until the 5th of next month, was arranged to help farms whose supply channels for meal ingredients were blocked due to the delayed reopening of daycare centers in Geumcheon-gu caused by COVID-19.
The agricultural product packages include seven excellent eco-certified items: chive, lettuce, perilla leaves, young napa cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, Hallabong oranges, and organic eggs, sold at 15,000 KRW per box (4 kg).
The Public Meal Support Center sorts and packages the agricultural products according to orders and delivers them directly to Geumcheon-gu Office by refrigerated vehicles to maintain freshness.
Previously, 320 boxes of the first batch of agricultural product packages received on the 25th are scheduled to be delivered on the 27th.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, "The warm hands of Geumcheon-gu public officials and daycare center association members who practiced sharing and coexistence during these difficult times will be remembered as a long-lasting impression for local farmers," adding, "We will thoroughly manage quality and hygiene to supply fresh and safe agricultural products."
Meanwhile, the city and Geumcheon-gu signed a 'Urban-Rural Coexistence Public Meal Supply Agreement' in November 2017, matching Seoul's autonomous districts with primary local governments in production areas on a one-to-one basis to supply local agricultural products.
