Hwang Kyo-an's 'Samgochorye' that moved Kim Jong-in: "Let's join forces to judge the Moon Jae-in administration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Democratic Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in is joining the Future United Party's election committee. Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Future United Party, personally visited Kim's residence and requested his participation, saying, "Please play a significant role." Although the initial attempt to bring him on board failed, persistent 'three visits' eventually succeeded in securing his involvement.
On the morning of the 26th, Leader Hwang visited Kim's home and said, "If we join forces, we can judge the Moon Jae-in administration," and requested, "Please come when the party is in difficulty and play a major role."
In response, Kim briefly agreed, saying, "Yes, yes." He added, "I don't know if I can demonstrate my abilities as much as expected, but I have my own criteria for judgment, and I have thought about how the election should be conducted. If I make the utmost effort, the desired results will occur."
Also present at the meeting were co-election committee chairmen Park Hyung-joon and Shin Se-don, along with Leader Hwang. They congratulated Kim on joining the election committee, applauded, shook hands, and took photos.
Co-chairman Park said, "After the report on Kim Jong-in's recruitment came out yesterday, we received a huge number of texts and calls," adding, "Kim's joining is the most crucial factor for winning the general election. This election is very important in the metropolitan area, and Kim can deliver a strong message that influences the moderate middle class and the broad young generation in the metropolitan area, so we received many requests."
The Future United Party had been pursuing Kim's participation since last month, but internal party noise arose over his recruitment, leading to the failure of his joining on the 16th. When Kim expressed dissatisfaction with some nominations in a media interview, voices opposing him grew both inside and outside the party. In particular, former North Korean diplomat Tae Yong-ho demanded an apology for Kim's remark that he "has no roots in South Korea."

However, the 'Kim Jong-in card,' which was thought to have failed, has been revived. Leader Hwang found it physically difficult to manage both the Jongno election and the overall election committee chairman position, and judged that an 'issue maker' was needed. The aftereffects of the nominations that Kim mentioned have also been somewhat resolved. Some analysts suggest that the recent sudden cancellation of nominations by the Supreme Council may be related to the successful recruitment of Kim. Co-chairman Park drew a line on such suspicions at the official announcement of the recruitment, saying, "The process of invalidating nominations and this matter are separate issues."
