Government Supports Export of COVID-19 Diagnostic Kits... Provides Matching Service
New coronavirus disease (COVID-19) diagnostic kits and related items for export to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are stored in a logistics warehouse near Incheon Airport.
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 26th that it will begin supporting the smooth progress of clinical efficacy evaluation processes to aid the export of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) diagnostic kits.
Currently, companies producing diagnostic kits must individually secure clinical medical institutions, which causes significant delays in efficacy verification. Since COVID specimens must be used to evaluate the efficacy of diagnostic kits, the ministry decided to provide a service connecting specimen-holding medical institutions with diagnostic companies.
The government expects that this measure will facilitate performance evaluations and enable faster export approvals. The matching service between medical institutions and diagnostic companies will be conducted through the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Medical Device Industry Comprehensive Support Center. This center, along with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, and Korea Health Industry Development Institute, provides consultations tailored to companies or products during overseas expansion. Companies wishing to use the service can apply via the center’s phone or website.
