Prime Minister Jeong: "Civil Servants, Do Not Fear Discipline... Active Administration Support Committee to Operate Continuously"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said on the 26th, "We will operate the Active Administration Support Committee at all agencies on a regular basis so that public officials do not hesitate out of fear of disciplinary action."
On the same day, Prime Minister Chung presided over the Government Seoul Office's National Affairs Inspection and Coordination Meeting and stated, "The COVID-19 pandemic will be a touchstone to judge the government's capability and will to practice active administration."
He added, "Active administration is essential for implementing urgent quarantine and livelihood economy measures, and it must be consistently applied to institutional improvements after the COVID-19 situation. I ask the ministers to take responsibility and lead their respective tasks. The Office for Government Policy Coordination should comprehensively support active administration across ministries and check the implementation status daily."
Regarding the 'Youth Life Improvement Plan,' Prime Minister Chung said, "Youth are the future leaders. Today, we first report government-level improvement plans for 34 issues that young people are most concerned about in their daily lives. This plan includes highly tangible measures such as expanding youth jeonse and monthly rent loans, supporting public transportation costs, and easing student loan repayment burdens."
He also urged, "Relevant ministries should actively promote the changes through social network services (SNS) frequently used by young people."
He continued, "Due to COVID-19, youth employment and academic schedules are being postponed one after another. Please prepare in advance so that normalization can proceed promptly once the situation stabilizes. We also ask companies and universities to actively cooperate."
Regarding the 'Brand K Expansion Strategy,' Prime Minister Chung said, "While Korean brands such as K-pop and K-beauty are globally recognized, small and medium-sized enterprises with low brand awareness are facing difficulties entering overseas markets. Ultimately, quality is the key to a brand. Relevant ministries should continuously discover SME products with innovation and marketability."
