KAIST·GIST 'AI Talent Development' MOU
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote education and research in the field of artificial intelligence. The two institutions signed the MoU in writing to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
This agreement was pursued to establish a global convergence AI network and talent inflow system, aiming to nurture the nation's first convergence AI talent and promote international joint research in AI.
Through this, the two institutions will engage in education and personnel exchange in the field of artificial intelligence, research and development and technology exchange in AI, joint international cooperation in AI, dissemination of AI achievements, and fostering startups.

Kim Ji-seon, President of GIST, said, "This agreement aims to secure global competitiveness and develop future new technologies by nurturing talent in the convergence AI field at AI-specialized universities and expanding AI research capabilities." He added, "We also expect a positive impact on revitalizing the regional economy through the creation and commercialization of AI-centered startup models that connect education, research, and the startup ecosystem."
