Jeongeup-si Provides 6.7 Billion Won Support to Vulnerable Groups Affected by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province is launching an emergency support program worth 6.7 billion KRW for low-income vulnerable groups.
According to Jeongeup City on the 25th, the budget to be allocated this time includes 4.8 billion KRW for low-income household living support projects, 1.07 billion KRW for temporary emergency welfare support related to COVID-19, 578 million KRW for distribution of fine dust masks to low-income groups, 111 million KRW for support of quarantine supplies to welfare facilities, and 60 million KRW for living support expenses.
The city plans to provide temporary living support funds worth 4.8 billion KRW targeting 8,961 low-income households, including basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups.
By providing gift certificates usable for four months to low-income groups, the city aims to help stabilize their lives, with payments ranging from 400,000 KRW for a single near-poverty individual to 1,480,000 KRW for a six-person household, and from 520,000 KRW for a single basic livelihood recipient to 1,920,000 KRW for a six-person household.
Additionally, the city has secured 1.07 billion KRW for temporary emergency welfare support to provide rapid assistance to households in crisis situations such as livelihood difficulties, helping them overcome these crises.
To distribute fine dust masks to low-income groups, a budget of 578 million KRW has also been secured.
The city contracted a total of 574,500 masks to prevent COVID-19 infections among low-income groups, urgently supplying an initial 58,000 masks, with plans to supply an additional 516,500 masks later.
Furthermore, 111 million KRW will be invested to support quarantine supplies for health-vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and children.
Health quarantine masks and sanitizers will be provided to 885 multi-use welfare facilities including residential facilities for the disabled, daycare centers, local children's centers, and senior citizen centers.
Along with this, 60 million KRW will be invested in the COVID-19 living support expense project to provide living support funds to those hospitalized or quarantined due to COVID-19.
Payments will be made once, and for those quarantined for 14 days or more, payments will be based on a one-month standard. The support amount per person starts at 454,900 KRW and goes up to a maximum of 1,457,500 KRW for five people.
In addition, to overcome COVID-19, among the total 26 donations worth approximately 1.28 billion KRW received this month from citizens, 1.06 billion KRW in cash will be promptly used to support necessary supplies for the stabilization of vulnerable groups in the region.
