Railway Corporation Executives Return Up to 30% of Salaries to Support COVID-19 Vulnerable Groups

View original image[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Executives of the Korea Rail Network Authority will return up to 30% of their salaries to support vulnerable groups affected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Rail Network Authority announced on the 25th that for the next four months, eight executives including the Chairman and Senior Executive Directors will return 30% of their monthly salaries, heads of headquarters departments (division chiefs) and regional headquarters will return 10%, and department heads will return 5% respectively.
The total amount of the returned salaries is expected to be around 140 million KRW. The Rail Network Authority plans to use this for socially vulnerable groups.
Additionally, during the first half of the year, the Rail Network Authority plans to participate in revitalizing the local economy through various supports such as early budget execution, reduction of national property usage fees, and helping flower farms survive.

Kim Sang-gyun, Chairman of the Rail Network Authority, said, “We are taking the COVID-19 situation seriously and decided to return part of the salaries centered on executives to join the government-wide efforts. We hope this will provide some help to small merchants and socially vulnerable groups.”
