The Korean Women’s Associations United, composed of 61 women’s organizations nationwide, issued a statement on the 25th condemning the n번방 case as "a horrific outcome caused by similar incidents occurring repeatedly without the perpetrators being properly punished and left unchecked," and stated, "The sadistic acts inflicted on women are cruel, inhumane, and constitute brutal crimes and human rights violations."
The association said, "While the arrest of the operator is indeed a fortunate result, all those involved in the crime must be swiftly apprehended through stronger investigations," adding, "All viewers who witnessed the sexual exploitation and abuse of women in the n번방 must also be punished." It further stated, "We support the disclosure of Jo Joo-bin’s identity and strongly urge the police, prosecution, and courts to enforce the law strictly and severely against these crimes."
Additionally, the association emphasized, "As a fundamental measure to prevent recurrence, the government and the National Assembly must promptly enact a special law on digital sex crimes," and stressed, "More thorough measures must be prepared for international cooperative investigations."
