Daewon Hwaseong Launches New Material Business for Masks
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Daewon Chemical is promoting the commercialization of a new material for masks.
Polyurethane material specialist Daewon Chemical announced on the 25th that it is intensifying its new material business for masks.
Daewon Chemical has already completed the development of a new polyurethane material for masks based on its accumulated polyurethane processing technology in the automotive, IT, and sports industries.
The newly developed material has excellent antibacterial properties and can be reused after washing. A Daewon Chemical official explained, "Recently, through various tests including KATRI (Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute), FITI Testing & Research Institute, and Germany's Derma Test, the material's performance was verified for the detection of various harmful substances and eight heavy metals, antibacterial effectiveness, breathability, and resilience."

Daewon Chemical plans to develop and sell finished masks based on this material. A Daewon Chemical official said, "Considering the nationwide difficulty caused by the shortage of masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to directly produce high-quality masks to supply them in earnest. Depending on the progress of the business, we are also considering adding filters and selling them in overseas markets."
