Hyundai Motor Starts Pre-Orders for 7th Generation New Avante... Prices Range from 15.31 Million to 24.22 Million KRW
Engine lineup including Smartstream Gasoline 1.6 MPi and 1.6 LPi
Enhanced fuel efficiency, space utilization, and safety with new platform
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Hyundai Motor Company began pre-orders for the completely redesigned 7th generation new Avante on the 25th, marking its first full model change in five years. Hyundai plans to release a video titled ‘All New Avante Digital Unboxing,’ where young researchers who led the Avante development will introduce the vehicle themselves on July 7, and then officially start sales.
The All New Avante features an innovative and sporty design, enhanced safety and interior space through a new platform, and the latest smart safety and convenience features. Two engine lineups are offered: the Smartstream gasoline 1.6 MPi and 1.6 LPi. Additionally, a 1.6 hybrid model and 1.6 turbo N-line are scheduled for domestic release in the future. Prices are set in the range of 15.31 million to 24.22 million KRW for the gasoline models, and 18.09 million to 21.97 million KRW for the LPi (general sales) models.
The new Avante, equipped with the 3rd generation compact sedan new platform, has improved fuel efficiency, space utilization, and safety. The Smartstream gasoline 1.6 MPI engine delivers a maximum output of 123 PS (horsepower) and maximum torque of 15.7 kgf·m, with fuel efficiency reaching 15.4 km/l. The 1.6 LPi engine achieves a maximum output of 120 PS and maximum torque of 15.5 kgf·m, with fuel efficiency of 10.6 km/l.
For a sporty design, the vehicle’s height was lowered by 20 mm and width increased by 25 mm compared to the previous model. The wheelbase is 2720 mm, securing a top-class level in its segment. Additionally, the rear legroom was extended by 58 mm compared to the previous Avante, offering excellent space utilization.
Hyundai improved the All New Avante’s safety, driving performance, and ride comfort. The vehicle weight was reduced by approximately 45 kg compared to the previous model through a high-strength lightweight body structure with enhanced collision performance, and overall vehicle performance including handling was improved. Convenience was also enhanced with an electric parking brake (including auto hold) that can be operated and released with just a button.
Various cutting-edge safety and convenience features were also applied. Hyundai Pay, introduced for the first time by Hyundai, is a representative example. Hyundai Pay is a service that allows users to register payment cards in a dedicated smartphone application and make payments easily through the navigation screen. The payment system was implemented through partnerships with major domestic gas stations, parking companies, and card companies, and the service area will be expanded in the future to include electric vehicle charging payments.
In addition, the All New Avante is equipped with features such as ‘Final Destination Guidance,’ which links the driver’s smartphone location information to guide the driver to walk from the vehicle to the final destination after getting off, and ‘Share My Car Location,’ which automatically shares the vehicle’s location when moving to a registered destination. The advanced driver assistance system has also been enhanced, with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Lane Following Assist (LFA) all applied as standard across all trims.
The All New Avante is equipped with a ‘BOSE Premium Sound’ system (total of 8 speakers). In particular, the ‘Speed-Linked Volume Control’ technology, which comprehensively analyzes vehicle speed and audio volume to automatically optimize volume and sound quality, is also applied.
Especially, the top-tier Inspiration trim has increased price competitiveness by including intelligent safety technologies and infotainment features as standard. When compared on a full-option basis, the Inspiration trim is priced lower than the All New Avante’s Modern trim or the previous Avante’s top-tier ‘Premium’ trim.
