Harvard University President and Spouse Test Positive for COVID-19: "Courage and Wisdom Needed to Overcome"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Lawrence S. Bacow, president of Harvard University in the United States, and his wife tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), CNN and other media reported on the 24th (local time).
According to the report, President Bacow released a statement saying, "On the 22nd, I began experiencing symptoms such as coughing, high fever, chills, and muscle pain," and added, "I was tested yesterday and just received a positive COVID-19 result."
President Bacow explained that he and his wife have been working from home since the 14th, and that there were very few people in the areas they recently visited, so he does not know how they were infected. He added, "I will be isolating at home and resting for the next two weeks."
He also urged university members, saying, "You must follow the guidelines of public health experts, the advice of government officials, and administrative orders," and emphasized, "Your courage, creativity, and intelligence are needed to overcome COVID-19."

Harvard University has been controlling student access to campus and conducting online classes since early this month to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
