Gwanak-gu Wins Seoul City Revenue Evaluation in 3 Categories for 4 Consecutive Years
Achieved Excellent Performance in All Three Areas: Comprehensive Tax Assessment, Corporate Tax Source Discovery, and Delinquent Collection... Systematic Management Through Tax Revenue Collection TF Team, Exceeding Collection Target by 11.4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards in three categories for four consecutive years in the Seoul City revenue evaluation, securing an incentive of 242 million KRW.
The revenue evaluation is conducted annually by Seoul City targeting 25 autonomous districts to increase revenue. It selects districts with outstanding performance in three areas: ▲achievement of revenue targets ▲collection of overdue local taxes ▲discovery of corporate tax sources, and provides incentives accordingly.
The district has demonstrated excellent performance in all three categories for four consecutive years, and this year achieved a result exceeding the 2019 city revenue collection target by 11.4%.
This success is the result of a systematic system prepared through the operation of a city revenue collection TF team, which compares and analyzes the performance of the 25 districts monthly via simulations, devises improvement plans for underperforming areas, and holds special countermeasure meetings.
Additionally, the active efforts of tax officials, including extensive taxpayer publicity and encouragement of overdue tax collection, supported this achievement.
From July to August, the district installed and operated a ‘Visiting Local Tax Consultation On-site Civil Service Office’ related to acquisition tax, property tax, and other taxes following the approval for use of newly constructed apartments in Bongcheon-dong. This service resolved residents’ tax-related inquiries and provided various tax consultation services, receiving great response from the community.
Moreover, to prevent disadvantages to residents caused by frequently amended regulations, the district produced and distributed the ‘2019 Easy-to-Understand Local Tax’ leaflet containing detailed explanations of local taxes, striving to protect taxpayers’ rights and implement trustworthy tax administration.

Mayor Park Junhee stated, “This achievement was possible thanks to the proactive work of all tax department staff and the high level of tax awareness among our residents. We will continue to strive for transparent and fair tax administration so that residents’ taxes are used valuably for the development of the local community.”
