According to the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division on the 24th, Private Marissa Jo Gloria (25, female), originally from Moorhead, Minnesota, was found unconscious in her quarters on the 21st. Emergency medical personnel who rushed to the scene pronounced her dead on site. The U.S. military is currently investigating the cause of Private Gloria's death.

Private Gloria, who served as a combat engineer in the 2nd Support Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division, enlisted in the Army in January last year. After completing training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, she was assigned to the 2nd Support Brigade and was deployed to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek in April of the same year. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Dion, commander of the 11th Engineer Battalion of the 2nd Support Brigade, expressed his condolences, saying, "We offer our sincere sympathies to Private Marissa's family, friends, and all who loved her. We are deeply saddened by the news of her passing, and our hearts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time."
