Disruptions at Samsung Electronics' Brazil Production Plant Due to COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) rapidly spreads in Brazil, Samsung Electronics has suspended operations at some of its production plants.
On the 23rd (local time), Samsung Electronics announced that it would halt operations at its Manaus plant in northern Brazil from the 24th to the 29th due to the sharp increase in COVID-19 infections.
Samsung Electronics explained that the temporary suspension of the Manaus plant's operations is a proactive measure to support the Brazilian government's efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
Samsung Electronics also added that all employees at its Latin America headquarters and Brazilian sales corporation in S?o Paulo have started working from home as of the same day.
