Gwangju Nam-gu Joins Blood Donation Campaign with Childcare Teachers, Public Officials, and Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The "Love Blood Donation Campaign" to supply the insufficient blood supply is spreading in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) on the 24th, childcare staff caring for children at daycare centers in the district are participating in the "Hope Blood Donation Relay" held from the 24th to the 25th at the parking lot of Gwangju University, hosted by the Nam-gu Daycare Center Association, joining the blood donation movement to save precious lives.
The "Hope Blood Donation Relay," held over two days, involves about 161 people, including 87 childcare staff from corporate daycare centers, 39 childcare staff from private daycare centers, and 35 staff working at home daycare centers and public daycare centers.
Additionally, the Nam-gu Daycare Center Association recently decided to donate 7.43 million won, collected through small contributions to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, to the Community Chest of Korea designated fund.
The Love Blood Donation Campaign is also actively carried out among university students, public officials, and social welfare facilities.
According to the Korean Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam Blood Center, in February, when blood supply was difficult due to the spread of COVID-19, 23 students from Gwangju University participated in the blood donation campaign, and 40 public officials from the Southern Police Station and Southern Fire Station also contributed to blood sharing with the intention of overcoming the national crisis together.
On the 16th, six workers at the Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Center rolled up their sleeves to help with blood supply.
Also, at the Love Blood Donation event held at Nam-gu Office on the 19th, 43 people including district office officials who rushed in after hearing about the difficulties due to unstable blood supply, social service agents, and residents voluntarily participated in blood donation to share blood.
