Samsung Electronics Launches Industry's First Integrated Power Management Chip for Wireless Earphones
Integrated power management chip for wireless earphones unveiled by Samsung Electronics on the 24th
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Electronics announced on the 24th that it will introduce the industry's first integrated power management chip (PMIC) optimized for the design of true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones.
The newly introduced power management chips are the 'MUA01' for charging cases and the 'MUB01' for earphones. These are all-in-one chips that integrate about 10 and 5 various chips respectively into one, allowing for the design of a wider battery space.
The company explained that the existing first-generation wireless earphones had to densely arrange multiple individual chips such as microcontrollers (MCU), wireless charging receiver chips, battery charging chips (Linear Charger), and battery fuel gauge chips in a small space, making it difficult to secure battery space.
However, by using the new integrated power management chip, the size of the circuit board can be reduced by more than half compared to using individual chips, and charging efficiency is improved, enabling the realization of the wireless earphones' greatest competitiveness: small size and long usage time. Wireless earphone manufacturers can produce products with lower material costs.
In particular, the MUA01 installed in the charging case is the industry's only product that supports both wired and wireless charging simultaneously, and it can achieve faster charging by increasing charging current and efficiency. It also implements embedded Flash memory, allowing it to be used in various applications such as small wearable devices.
