The campaign, held at Jungang-ro in Jangheung-eup and the Saturday Market, was conducted to encourage the participation of county residents in relation to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' focused implementation of "social distancing."
"Social distancing" refers to reducing face-to-face contact by promoting online communication, refraining from using multi-use facilities, wearing masks, washing hands, and avoiding gatherings to block infection by minimizing contact between people.
This campaign was carried out to raise awareness in response to the frequent occurrence of cluster outbreaks centered around multi-use facilities such as religious establishments.
Recently, with the two-week school closure period extended, there has been a growing perception that the start of the new semester marks the end of "social distancing."
Accordingly, the county considers the upcoming two weeks to be a more critical time than ever for quarantine efforts.
Jangheung County is promoting "social distancing" starting with public officials by refraining from unnecessary business trips, postponing meetings and events, installing protective partitions at civil service counters, and encouraging telecommuting for pregnant and chronically ill public officials.
