Busan City Announces Contest for Model Companies to Create a Gender-Equal Employment Environment
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jonghyo] Busan City announced on the 23rd that it will discover and award exemplary companies that have improved discriminatory employment practices to spread awareness of gender employment equality ahead of the Gender Employment Equality Emphasis Period from May 25 to 31.
The target companies are those that have been established in the Busan area for more than two years, have 20 or more employees, and employ at least 30% female workforce. Companies that take the lead in improving discriminatory systems or practices related to vocational skill development, employment promotion, and employment sites are eligible.
Selected companies will receive an exemplary company plaque and certification plaque (certification period of 3 years), and will be recommended as eligible companies for special support benefits such as small and medium enterprise operating and nurturing funds and credit guarantee exceptions.
Applications will be accepted until the 3rd of next month, and two companies will be selected and awarded in May. Application documents can be submitted by mail or in person to the Women's and Family Division of Busan City.

A Busan City official said, "We will actively discover companies that take the lead in improving discriminatory systems or practices in employment sites and widely disseminate excellent cases," adding, "We will do our best to create a gender-equal employment environment and foster a social atmosphere that balances work and family life."
