Ministry of Education and Korea Student Aid Foundation Announce National Scholarship Program for Training Skilled Technical Talent

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation will select 1,000 scholarship recipients among outstanding students in specialized technical fields at junior colleges, providing a total of 7.1 billion KRW in support.
The Specialized Technical Talent Scholarship is a national scholarship program aimed at nurturing specialized technical talent through higher vocational education at junior colleges.
Among the selected scholarship recipients, 300 students will receive full tuition coverage and 2 million KRW per semester for living expenses, while 700 students will receive full tuition coverage, selecting a total of 1,000 outstanding junior college students.
Eligibility for the Specialized Technical Talent Scholarship requires enrollment in a regular program at a junior college. The number of selected students will be allocated differentially based on the number of enrolled students within the quota, ranging from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 13 per participating university.

Universities select and recommend eligible students who meet the basic qualifications by considering employment competency development (60%) such as certification acquisition, academic performance (30%), and economic status (10%). The Korea Student Aid Foundation will verify the eligibility of the recommended students, including whether they receive overlapping scholarships, before making the final selection.
