Overcoming 'Corona Blue'? ...Gangnam-gu Video 'Mimiwi Healing Program' Draws Attention
Producing Community Vitality Content Such as Learning K-POP Star Dances, Home Training Videos, and Trot Singing Contests
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has recently introduced various resident vitality programs to help residents overcome fatigue and boredom caused by social distancing, school delays, and welfare facility closures due to COVID-19.
◇ No PC rooms or karaoke! Yes to becoming a Hallyu star!!
Gangnam-gu produced and distributed on the 25th a video titled ‘Learning K-POP Stars’ Dance’ that can be followed at home to relieve stress for teenagers restricted from outdoor activities due to school delays and to discourage visits to PC rooms and karaoke. Idol groups Newkidd, GWSN, D-Crunch, and Third Eye, who are emerging as Hallyu stars, participated in this video as a talent donation and also delivered messages of support to overcome COVID-19. The produced content will be released through SNS platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
Additionally, a ‘3-minute video contest’ for elementary, middle, and high school students will be held until the 3rd of next month. The themes are ▲ ‘Bangkok Challenge: I am the Director!’ and ▲ ‘Our Family Communication Diary.’ As time spent with family increases these days, participants can submit films, documentaries, news, dramas, or any free format expressing the importance of family.
◇ Seniors bored due to welfare facility closures...
Exercise methods that seniors who cannot go outdoors can easily follow will also be introduced. From the 27th, the Gangnam Urban Management Corporation plans to post 10 types of home training videos, including Gukseondo and line dance, which can be done indoors, on its website.
Also, since last week, the Yeoksam Senior Welfare Center and Gangnam Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center have been providing about 1,400 elderly living alone with bean sprout kits to offer vitality through cultivation.
Moreover, various contests for seniors have been prepared. Nonhyeon Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center is holding a ‘Trot Singing Contest’ using KakaoTalk, and Gangnam Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center is conducting the ‘Mimiwi Challenge,’ which involves sharing check-ins, support messages, and daily life videos on SNS until the center reopens.
◇ People with disabilities also learn at home
Gangnam Disabled Welfare Center will hold the ‘Outside the Blanket is Dangerous! Home Talent Show’ from the end of this month to allow people with disabilities to showcase talents such as singing, art, and knitting. Award-winning works will be exhibited online through the website.
Cheong-eum Welfare Center will provide learning programs such as ▲ learning four languages and ▲ online quiz competitions to 120 youth with disabilities from the end of this month. To ensure continuity of education and reduce caregivers’ burdens, the district provides content tailored to disability types and age characteristics, including developmental, hearing, visual, and physical disabilities, through the website and mail.
Other programs offered by Gangnam-gu can be checked in detail on the website.
