Gyeongbuk Public Officials Return 230 Million Won of March Salary Increase... Support for Underprivileged Groups
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Public officials in Gyeongsangbuk-do have decided to return the March salary increase.
On the 22nd, Gyeongbuk Province announced that all employees voluntarily decided to return the March salary increase as a way to share the pain caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis.
The province plans to use the approximately 230 million won collected this way to support the livelihoods of vulnerable and marginalized groups.
About 7,000 people, including those at the provincial office, affiliated agencies, business offices, regional headquarters, fire headquarters, city and county fire stations, and the provincial council, participated in the salary return.
The province plans to expand the return of a certain amount of salary to investment and contribution institutions in the future.
To participate in 'social distancing' to prevent the spread of COVID-19, telecommuting for employees will also be promoted. Starting from the 23rd, employees who are not among the approximately 150 members of the COVID-19 countermeasures headquarters will be allowed to work from home for two weeks as much as possible.
To revitalize the stagnated commercial district, employees will also engage in a campaign to use external restaurants three times a week.
