Gwangju Police Roll Up Sleeves to Revitalize Local Businesses Amid COVID-19 Impact
Expansion of Cafeteria Closures and Operation of Dosirak Day
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency (Chief Choi Gwanho) has joined the campaign to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to the impact of COVID-19.
On the 22nd, the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it will expand the closure days of its in-house cafeteria.
Currently, the Gwangju Police Agency cafeteria is closed only on the last Friday of each month, but due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, it will add closure on the second Friday of each month to help revitalize nearby businesses such as local restaurants.
Along with this, to simultaneously achieve local economic revitalization and compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, a "Lunchbox Day" will also be implemented.
Lunchbox Day involves ordering delivery or takeout from nearby small restaurants struggling with decreased sales or restaurants visited by confirmed COVID-19 cases and eating the food brought in.
Even in this case, to prevent COVID-19 infection, meals will be taken in open outdoor spaces or places where personal distancing can be maintained.
A representative of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency said, "We hope that expanding cafeteria closure days and voluntary participation in Lunchbox Day will help revitalize the local economy even a little," adding, "We also expect it to strengthen communication and vitality within the organization."
