Iran Nears 20,000 COVID-19 Cases with 1,433 Deaths... Fatality Rate at 7.3% (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Since the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Iran on the 19th of last month, the number of infected people has reached about 20,000 in one month.
The Iranian Ministry of Health reported on the 20th (local time) at noon that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 1,237 from the previous day, reaching 19,644.
The number of deaths also increased by 149 from the previous day, totaling 1,433. Until this day, the number of daily COVID-19 deaths in Iran has exceeded 100 for six consecutive days. With the rapid increase in deaths, the fatality rate reached 7.3%.
Additionally, the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the cumulative number of recovered COVID-19 patients is 6,745.
