[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the afternoon of the 20th, President Moon Jae-in held a 20-minute phone call starting at 4 p.m. at the request of Swedish Prime Minister Stefan L?fven, during which they exchanged views on sharing clinical data related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). President Moon said, "The COVID-19 crisis is a global challenge and not limited to one country, so cooperation and solidarity in the international community are more important than ever." He added, "Our government is willing to actively share the experience and clinical data accumulated during the COVID-19 prevention and healing process with the international community."
Prime Minister L?fven expressed appreciation for Korea's willingness to share accumulated experience and clinical data and said it would be very useful for Sweden's COVID-19 response.
President Moon emphasized that although the personal and economic exchanges between the two countries, which had been activated through two summit meetings with Sweden last year, have temporarily slowed due to the COVID-19 crisis, essential exchanges among businesspeople from both countries should be conducted at a reasonable level. He also said that both countries should further strengthen cooperation to contribute together to international efforts such as vaccine and treatment development and global economic recovery.
Prime Minister L?fven evaluated that the bilateral relationship has developed to a high level through mutual visits between the two heads of state last year. He responded by saying that they should overcome the COVID-19 crisis well together and further enhance bilateral cooperation.
