Yang Hyang-ja, Gwangju Seo-gu Eul Preliminary Candidate, Vows 'Certain Victory' in April 15 General Election

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Yang Hyang-ja, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the National Assembly election in Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, received the nomination certificate from the central party on the 20th.
On the same day, Candidate Yang pledged victory in the April 15 general election together with Lee Nak-yeon, the standing election committee chairman.
Candidate Yang said, “I will contribute to the success of the Moon Jae-in administration by winning the April 15 general election along with all Democratic Party candidates.”
She then presented a vision to establish a ‘future car one-stop cluster’ in Gwangju, covering everything from R&D to complete vehicle manufacturing, as a key pledge for the general election.
She stated, “I promise to conduct a fair election campaign without mutual slander or black propaganda,” and expressed her ambition, “This time, I will win and bring significant change to Gwangju’s economy.”
Meanwhile, former Supreme Council member Yang Hyang-ja, born in 1967, is well known as a high school graduate Samsung Electronics executive who joined Samsung Electronics while attending Gwangju Girls' Commercial High School and was promoted to executive director.
She was selected as a ‘Moon Jae-in recruited figure’ and ran for the 20th general election in Seo-gu Eul, Gwangju, and was elected as the Democratic Party Supreme Council member and national women’s committee chairperson in 2016.

In 2018, she was appointed director of the National Human Resources Development Institute for Public Officials and resigned in August last year to participate as vice chairman in the Democratic Party Central Party’s Special Committee on Countermeasures against Japan’s Economic Aggression. She is also serving as a member of the Democratic Party’s National Economic Advisory Council.
