For the 2020 National Assembly general election, the Public Service Labor Union Federation put forward the main slogan: "Welfare labor for the people, establishing a social growth system of coexistence and symbiosis."
At the policy meeting with Park Kwang-on, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, the Public Service Labor Union Federation introduced its ten core demands and discussed COVID-19 countermeasures and the economic ripple effects on self-employed and small business owners in the future.
At the meeting, Chairman Lee Chung-jae stated, “The 4.15 general election is being held amid the great efforts of medical staff and frontline public officials due to the COVID-19 virus in Korean society. Above all, it is important to accurately understand public sentiment regarding people's livelihoods and the economy,” adding, “Our role is to ensure that the service, sacrifice, and efforts of these people for the public during this crisis are not in vain.”
Vice Chairman Kim Hae-young also emphasized, “We must prepare for the impact COVID-19 will have on the Korean economy, especially,” and urged, “Emergency support measures for the grassroots economy and neighborhood markets are urgently needed.” He further mentioned, “Public officials in the civil service are currently voluntarily collecting donations for Daegu and Gyeongbuk and are also engaging in economic participation activities to revitalize the region.”
Supreme Council Member Park Kwang-on responded, “The Democratic Party of Korea and the government are putting all their efforts into active cooperation against COVID-19 for the entire nation,” and added that they are actively seeking regional economic revitalization measures, including supplementary budgets such as disaster basic income for small business owners and the self-employed affected by the aftermath of COVID-19.”
He concluded by saying, “I empathize with the Public Service Labor Union Federation's participation in the current situation and will actively reflect their 4.15 general election policy activities for the people within our Democratic Party of Korea.”
