Magnitude 2.7 Earthquake Occurs in Sancheong, Gyeongnam...KMA Advises Caution as Tremors Felt
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] At around 4:02 PM on the 20th, a magnitude 2.7 earthquake occurred 13 km southeast of Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the epicenter was located at 35.39°N latitude and 128.01°E longitude, with a depth of 9 km.
Gyeongnam recorded a maximum seismic intensity of 3, while Gyeongbuk, Daegu, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk recorded a maximum intensity of 2. A maximum intensity of 3 means that stationary cars shake slightly, and people indoors, especially those on upper floors of buildings, can noticeably feel the tremor.
