Road Traffic Authority and KCL Sign MOU to Establish Autonomous Driving Environment for Future Vehicles
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] On the 20th, the Korea Road Traffic Authority and the Korea Conformity Laboratories signed a business agreement at the Korea Road Traffic Authority headquarters in Wonju, Gangwon Province, to create a sustainable and safe future automobile autonomous driving environment.
Through this agreement, both organizations agreed to cooperate in establishing a reliability evaluation system for future automobiles, autonomous driving simulators, and the construction of real-road based demonstration evaluation and certification complexes, in line with the government's '2030 Future Automobile Industry Development Strategy.'
To this end, both organizations plan to form a consultative body and promote ▲ mutual support and exchange of information and personnel ▲ collaboration on research and educational projects ▲ mutual cooperation in the operation and utilization of various programs ▲ exchange and joint use of research facilities and software.
Additionally, through the 'e-Mobility Enterprise Support Center,' they will establish an open platform linking related production and consumption, support strengthening the testing and certification evaluation capabilities of related companies' products, and encourage entry into domestic and international markets.
Yoon Jong-gi, Director of the Korea Road Traffic Authority, stated, “We expect to contribute to creating a happy and safe national transportation environment by generating new growth engines related to autonomous driving and e-mobility.”
