Jeonnam Province Launches Support for Flower Farming Households Affected by COVID-19 Impact
Loan support of 100 million KRW for individuals and 200 million KRW for corporations... Applications accepted until the 27th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has stepped up to provide various policy funds to flower cultivation farmers who have experienced difficulties in management due to the spread of COVID-19.
Jeonnam Province announced on the 20th that it will provide loans from the Rural Development Fund operated by the province to flower farmers and agricultural corporations, up to 100 million KRW per individual and 200 million KRW per corporation.
The Rural Development Fund supports operating funds used for purchasing seedlings and seeds with a 2-year grace period and lump-sum repayment, and facility funds for new, expanded, or renovated production facilities with a 2-year grace period and 3-year equal installment repayment, at an annual interest rate of 1%.
Applications can be submitted to the local eup, myeon, or dong office of the applicant's address by the 27th, and the final selection of project recipients is planned to be confirmed around mid-next month after screening.
In addition, the government is also supporting flower farmers affected by COVID-19 through the NongHyup with agricultural management recovery funds, agricultural cooperative funds, and flower distribution improvement funds.
Gwak Hongseop, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "We have been promoting various measures such as operating a mobile flower market at the provincial office to stimulate flower consumption, which sharply declined due to COVID-19," and added, "We hope this policy fund will help the struggling flower farmers' management."

Meanwhile, since February, Jeonnam Province has carried out flower consumption promotion activities such as '1 Table 1 Flower' and 'Buy Flowers' targeting institutions, organizations, and cities/counties within the province to help flower farmers, purchasing a total of 114 million KRW worth of flowers including roses to support flower farmers.
