View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 87 on the 20th, bringing the total to 8,652. Although the number of new cases reached triple digits for the first time in five days the previous day, it dropped back to double digits in just one day.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the day, the number of confirmed domestic cases increased by 87 compared to the previous day. Additional cases in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions were 35 and 47, respectively.
By region, Daegu had the highest number with 34 cases, followed by Seoul (17), Gyeonggi (14), Gyeongbuk (13), Incheon (4), Busan (1), Gwangju (1), Chungnam (1), and Gyeongnam (1). One case was confirmed during quarantine procedures, which began special entry procedures the day before.
