[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has canceled the '2020 Play Expo,' a game show hosted by Gyeonggi Province scheduled for May, to prevent the community spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The province had planned to hold this year's Play Expo from May 14 to 17 at KINTEX in Goyang.
An official from the province explained, "Although postponing the event was initially considered, since several domestic and international game shows are scheduled consecutively in the second half of the year and the COVID-19 situation is expected to prolong, we decided to cancel to help companies make quick decisions."
Play Expo is a game show composed of various side events such as export consultation meetings, exhibitions, and e-sports competitions. Last year, it was one of Gyeonggi Province's representative exhibitions, attracting over 100,000 visitors.
