China Reports Zero New Locally Transmitted COVID-19 Cases for Second Day, 39 Imported Cases Only (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] China recorded zero new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days. All 39 new confirmed cases classified by Chinese authorities were imported cases from overseas, not infections within China.
On the 20th, the National Health Commission of China announced that as of midnight, there were 39 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 3 additional deaths. For two consecutive days, no new cases emerged in Wuhan, Hubei Province, the area of concentrated COVID-19 outbreaks.
All 39 newly registered confirmed cases were imported from overseas. Guangdong Province reported 14 cases, Shanghai 8, Beijing 6, Fujian Province 3, and Tianjin, Liaoning Province, Heilongjiang Province, Zhejiang Province, Shandong Province, Guangxi Province, Sichuan Province, and Gansu Province each reported 1 additional imported case. The total number of imported cases has reached 228.
So far, China has reported 80,967 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Among them, 71,150 patients have recovered and been discharged, and 3,248 have died. Currently, 6,569 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, and there are 104 suspected cases.

Outside mainland China, in the Greater China region, a total of 333 confirmed cases have been reported: Hong Kong with 208 cases (98 discharged, 4 deaths), Macao with 17 cases (10 discharged), and Taiwan with 108 cases (26 discharged, 1 death).
