[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has surpassed 9,000.
According to foreign media including AFP on the 19th, as of 8 p.m. that day, the number of COVID-19 deaths was counted at 9,020.
Europe recorded the highest number of deaths at 4,134, while Asia, including China where COVID-19 first broke out, reported 3,416 deaths.

The country with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is China (81,154), followed by Italy (35,713), Iran (17,361), and Spain (15,014). Next were Germany (13,093), the United States (9,415), France (9,055), and South Korea (8,565).
