Choi Hyun-soo, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated at the regular briefing that "The Joint Chiefs of Staff will hold an emergency operations commanders meeting via video conference this afternoon, presided over by Chairman Park Han-ki."
At this meeting, there will be a focused discussion on diagnosing the military's security gaps that failed to prevent unauthorized civilian intrusions and on measures to prevent recurrence.
Spokesperson Choi said, "Along with a profound awareness of the current situation, we plan to discuss practical and fundamental measures to prevent recurrence and urge their implementation in the field."
Chairman Park and key operations commanders are expected to review the overall military security posture following recent unauthorized civilian intrusions at the Jeju and Jinhae naval bases and the air defense positions under the Army Capital Defense Command, and to identify problems and improvement plans.
