Hubei Province Reports Zero New COVID-19 Cases... All 34 Additional Cases Are 'Imported' (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] For the first time, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases in Hubei Province, China, has reached zero. Although 34 new confirmed cases were reported in China on the 18th, all of them were cases imported from outside China, not within the country.
On the 19th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, there were 34 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 8 new deaths in China.
Within Hubei Province, known as the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of new confirmed cases recorded zero for the first time. All 34 new cases were imported from overseas. On the 18th, a total of 34 overseas imported COVID-19 cases were added: 21 in Beijing, 9 in Guangdong Province, 2 in Shanghai, 1 in Heilongjiang Province, and 1 in Zhejiang Province. The cumulative number of overseas imported cases is now 189.
So far, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China is 80,928. Among them, 70,420 patients have recovered and been discharged, and 3,245 have died. Currently, 7,263 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals. There are 105 suspected cases, and 9,144 close contacts are under medical observation.
Meanwhile, in Hubei Province, where no new confirmed cases were reported in one day, 6,992 confirmed patients are currently receiving treatment. To date, a total of 67,800 people have been confirmed with COVID-19 in Hubei Province, of whom 57,678 have been discharged and 3,130 have died.

Outside mainland China, in the Greater China region, COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported as follows: Hong Kong 192 cases (95 discharged, 4 deaths), Macau 15 cases (10 discharged), and Taiwan 100 cases (22 discharged, 1 death).
