[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Asiana Airlines announced on the 19th that it has operated a charter flight to transport overseas Koreans staying in Iran back to Korea. According to Asiana Airlines, the charter flight will move to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), pick up about 80 overseas Koreans from Iran, and return to Incheon International Airport.
Accordingly, Asiana Airlines flight OZ5793 took off from Incheon Airport at 11:50 PM on the 17th as a ferry flight (flight without passengers) and arrived in Dubai at 4:50 AM on the 18th (local time). Then, flight OZ5893 carrying the Korean residents from Iran departed Dubai at 2:45 AM and is scheduled to arrive at Incheon Airport at 4:30 PM on the same day.
Passengers will be seated separately in accordance with the guidelines of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Additionally, protective suits and gear will be provided to cabin crew members for their safety, and in-flight services will be minimized.

An Asiana Airlines official stated, "Recently, air routes between Iran and neighboring countries have been reduced, increasing inconvenience for our citizens traveling to and from the area," adding, "Therefore, in close consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we decided to operate this charter flight."
